Rachel McAdams Pulls Vintage Cardin for 'Send Help' LA Premiere

It is fair to say you were still enamoured by Rachel McAdams’ previous looks in the lead up to the world premiere of her new film Send Help, but in Los Angeles last night she brought a completely different energy.

You cannot go wrong with vintage, right? Well, you can. But this was not one of those occasions. The actress wore a vintage Pierre Cardin Fall 2009 black asymmetrical jersey gown, and it felt entirely fitting for the moment.

You know how I feel about black dresses needing detail, and this look delivered. Sculptural black tubing and white rhinestone embellishments added visual interest, while the cape sharpened the silhouette and gave the gown its defining point of difference.

If you are going to pull from the Pierre Cardin archive in Paris, it needs to feel this purposeful. The gown did not rely on nostalgia alone. It stood on its own as a strong red carpet statement that respected the past while fully living in the present.

The Jean Schlumberger by Tiffany & Co. Apollo ear clips were the perfect finishing touch, echoing the gown’s sculptural detailing.
