Zoe Saldana attended the ACLU SoCal Bill of Rights Dinner at The Beverly Hilton on Sunday night, but her latest look from Balmain’s Spring 2025 collection didn’t hit the mark.
Over the years, Zoe and Balmain have shared an undeniable synergy, creating iconic moments like her unforgettable Balmain dress at the ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ Berlin premiere in 2013. Even her Balmain denim jumpsuit for ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ at Comic-Con the same year was effortlessly chic, cementing a legacy of strong red carpet moments between the actress and the fashion house. But this time, the magic seems to be missing.
I was disappointed with her Balmain look from the ‘Lioness’ Season 2 premiere, and once again, this look leaves much to be desired. The top, with its draped details, looks oddly unflattering on her. Given how it was styled on the model, I can’t help but feel it would have worked better if she had tucked in more of the draping. As it is, it has an awkward resemblance to a baby sling.
Balmain and Zoe usually deliver style moments that are confident and cutting-edge, but this look wasn’t to be their redeeming moment.
Fingers crossed that the third time will be the charm.
