It’s hard to believe that my wardrobe consisted solely of skinny jeans. Looking back, it’s a bummer that I didn’t have a comprehensive denim collection, but I’m working overtime to make up for it these days. Enter my newfound appreciation for wide-leg styles, particularly those from Old Navy. Just a few weeks back, I waxed poetic about the Old Navy Extra High-Waisted Sky Hi Ripped Wide-Leg Jeans, but now I’ve added yet another epically good pair to my (growing) collection: the Extra High-Waisted Sky-Hi Straight Wide-Leg Jeans ($45), which look straight off of a runway.
When I scrolled past them in the brand’s New Arrivals section, I did a double-take. The silhouette features curved forward-facing side seams and subtle fading, making them look vintage — and four times the price. They stood out in that they’re different than the type of styles I usually see at Old Navy, a little trendier than I expected. Naturally, I added them to my virtual shopping cart within minutes and tore them out of the packaging when they arrived a few days later. Dramatic? Yes. Justifiably so? Also yes.
The verdict? Obsessed is an understatement. I love the thought of teaming these wide-leg jeans with a crop top or bodysuit and sneakers this spring. They’re *extra* high-waisted, which I’m a big fan of. And I know I’ve said it once, but I’ll say it again: the forward-facing seams are everything. It’s a detail that ups the cool factor of any outfit instantly, practically zero effort required. My one and only complaint is that I should have bought one size down, so please, all, don’t sell these out before I get the chance to swap ’em out!
