The blossoming label looked to structured outerwear and University influences this season.
Since its Parisian debut just three years ago, Rok Hwang’s label Rokh has become the new go-to for sexed-up separates and tailored-to-perfection outerwear. A graduate of London’s Central Saint Martins, Hwang’s evolving bag of references includes underground nightclubs, ultra-glam evening wear, and technical outerwear.
This season, Hwang continued in an increasingly deconstructed direction, showing a dynamic collection of University-inspired ready-to-wear and layered suiting—of course, there were plenty of asymmetrical elements and grommet detailing.
Fashion-wise, asymmetrical blazers and trenches took center stage throughout and were complimented by accessory ventures like studded belting, floral duffle bags, and matrix-ready eyewear. As has become commonplace with the Parisian brand, deconstructed tailoring was a major talking point. This season, the label’s signature trenches arrived in a variety of hues—beige, red, floral—and were made complete by spliced hems while layered on top of loosely fit trousers and slouchy button ups.
Too, the designer incorporated playful motifs, graphics, and feather fringe—a welcomed departure from the overly structural outerwear pieces. Hwang’s color palette of deep golds and royal blues re-upped this season’s University-centric inspiration while muted hues added a sense of versatility for the everyday.
Not only showcasing structured touchpoints, the brand also presented a bevy of party-ready silhouettes: belted blazers posing as mini dresses, fringe a-line pieces, bodysuits with ‘University’ motifs, and much more. Whether you’re heading to a chic Parisian discotheque or simply off to make a fashion statement Downtown, Rokh has you covered.
Against a thumping soundtrack booming in a narrow hallway, Rok Hwang once again proved his knack for understated, must-have outerwear coupled with unique, one-of-a-kind references. And truly, we hope to see the cast of Euphoria rocking Rokh’s Fall/Winter 2022 pieces when the upcoming season airs.
