You may want to avoid TikTok tonight—because something tells us the noise around Phoebe Bridgers and Paul Mescal at the Met Gala 2022 will be absolutely deafening.
The couple have been a fan favorite on the app since the singer and the Normal People actor first went Instagram official in 2021. However, their red carpet appearances together are incredibly rare. (They made their public debut in late 2021 at the LACMA Art + Film Gala.) We’ve certainly never seen them at the Met Gala together before—until now, that is.

Though they didn’t arrive together, Bridgers and Mescal posed alongside Mescal’s Normal People co-star Daisy Edgar-Jones just off the carpet. Bridgers wore a sheer, silver beaded gown with a halter neckline, styled with a slicked back up-do and blingy jewelry. Her other half wore a black suit and sparse stache, while Edgar-Jones opted for a swishy embellished fringed look.
Phoebe Bridgers and Paul Mescal are especially newsworthy at the moment given the engagement rumors swirling around them. Bridgers was reportedly heard referring to Mescal as her “fiancé” while at Coachella two weekends ago, though the couple haven’t confirmed (or denied) the news themselves. But you know what they say: The maybe-engaged couple that walks the Met Gala red carpet together, stays together.
