Since joining the design roster at Moncler Genius, Jonathan Anderson has brought his modern interpretation of masculinity and femininity to the brand. He has led the partnership with his playful juxtaposition of contrasting elements; creating fashion that is direct, yet twisted, familiar and obscure, straightforward and surprising.
The 1 Moncler JW Anderson FW 22 Collection – Anderson’s third for Moncler Genius – heightens the idea of clothing meant to meet with the elements, while focusing on pattern, color, and texture. Anderson sticks to Moncler’s functional and outdoorsy roots, accompanying the collection with vibrant hues and psychedelic patterns, ultimately defining the collection as an upbeat escapism. Explosions of color are seen as sprayed dots of different width, coiling waves, and blotches printed on various fabrics and knitwear. Featured in the collection; padded parkas with leather straps, cropped blusons, zip-up jackets, padded vests, sweatshirts, hoodies, teddy fleeces, padded miniskirts, bermudas, and roomy trousers.
Known for his unexpected yet primitive use of color, Anderson plays with the intensity of various sherbet shades by choice of materials. Shades of mellow yellows, pastel greens, baby pinks, electric blues, browns, and corals are illustrated through washed cottons, denims, and Moncler’s nylons and technical fabrics. Accessories like large tote bags and slides also follow the idea of supersizing by way of padding. Chelsea boots sport bouclè details, while sorbet colored crocheted hats complete the look.
Photographed by Tyler Mitchell, the editorial imagery sees models frolicking around the ornate classical gardens of Italy’s La Foce villa, which has been transformed into a kaleidoscope playground.
The collection is available in select Moncler boutiques, on Moncler.com, in the JW Anderson Soho London boutique, and on JWAnderson.com.
