Ben Affleck was that dad at a car dealership over the weekend.
According to People, Affleck allowed his 10-year-old son, Samuel Garner, behind the wheel of a yellow Lamborghini while visiting 777 Exotics in Los Angeles with fiancé Jennifer Lopez on June 26. Unfortunately, while taking the car for a test drive, Samuel backed right into a white BMW.
“Ben was at the dealership to test-drive a new car,” a source told People. “Sam seemed very interested in the exotic cars. Ben let him get into the driver’s seat of a very expensive Lamborghini, [and] the car ended up reversing into another parked car. There seemed to be no damage to the cars though. You could tell that Ben very much regretted letting Sam get into the driver’s seat. He seemed upset about it.” (You can see pics here.)
A representative for Affleck assured People that there was “no damage” and “everyone is okay.” Do bruised egos (and likely an embarrassing call to his mother) count as damage?
Ben Affleck shares three children with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner: 16-year-old Violet Anne, 13-year-old Seraphina Rose, and Samuel. He also maintains a close relationship with Lopez’s 14-year-old twins, Max and Emme, whom she shares with ex-husband Marc Anthony.
“I have had a [front-row] seat to watching how you father for over a year now and I have never seen [a] more consistent, loving, and selfless father. And it’s not just to your own kids but also without obligation to mine as well,” Lopez wrote of Affleck in a recent Father’s Day tribute on her “On the JLo” newsletter. “You show up and put them first always. You are affectionate and engaged in every moment they are with you and it’s honestly one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. Thank you for all you do for all of us. We appreciate and love you beyond measure.”
