Cue the Paramore because Brad Pitt is still into Gwyneth Paltrow. Maybe.
In a new interview on Paltrow’s lifestyle website Goop (which, full disclosure, is also a long ad for some expensive shirts Pitt is selling), the exes sat down to reminisce about all things luxury, and it’s giving us a certain never-got-over-you vibe. Yeah, I know Paltrow is married, who cares?
For context: the pair dated for three years in the late 90s, got engaged and then called it off. During the time they were together, infamous predator Harvey Weinstein harassed Paltrow, she told Pitt about it, and Pitt threatened to kill the producer, which I genuinely love, as boyfriend behavior.
Anyway, back to their chat. While Pitt grew up a regular person, Gwyneth Paltrow is the daughter of Hollywood A-listers, and it was her father, Bruce Paltrow, who introduced the the Moneyball star to the finer things in life. “Bruce taught me about cashmere, what a nice bottle of red is—what a fine bottle of wine means and how to experience it. And I really value that,” he told his once-fiancée. “Hanging out with both of you sanded off some of my rough country edges. It tickled my luxury gene that I always had somewhere in there but didn’t have access to.”
The Shakespeare In Love actor also recalled her late father’s fondness for Pitt. “I’ll never forget when we were engaged and he came to me one day, his eyes full of tears, and he said, ‘You know, I never really realized what they mean when they say you’re gaining a son. Like, I’m gaining a son.’…Why did you love him, even though we didn’t get married, unfortunately,” she recalled.
