For their new collection, the Italian fashion house rejuvenates the classic man’s wardrobe to embody freedom, play and luxury.
With deconstructed silhouettes, exposed stitching and playful colour palettes, it is safe to say Milan has fully succumbed to the spellbinding spirit of Fendi. Boasting an innovative approach to menswear and a star-studded guest list, this year’s fashion show spun every expectation on its head — a habit which has quickly become synonymous with Fendi.
Unveiling the house’s Men’s Spring/Summer 2023 collection, Silvia Venturini takes the elegance of the classic man’s wardrobe and uses it as inspiration to elevate its staples through novelty and expert craftsmanship. Pulsing through the capsule, we see boxy shirts and polos paired with loose-fitting trousers and high-waisted shorts — constantly playing with the familiar shapes of male attire and contrasting it with the extraordinary.
“It’s about a balance of decoration and simplicity,” Silvia imparts, “An ageless sense of freedom to play, as we rediscover the luxury of free time.” Incorporated within this theme of balance, the collection draws upon the sentiments of earth, sea and sky. Earthy tones are washed across natural fabrics, floating hemlines are doused in an ocean-blue hue and unbleached denim features next to calfskin — emanating the languid nature of the seasons.
Creating a line of work that is both transformative yet loyal to the DNA of Fendi, the SS23 collection is one of the house’s most applicable and translatable yet — as exemplified by its celebrity wearers.
