The designer label draws inspiration from an evening glow to create a line of suits, two-pieces and accessories for the new season.
Creating a seamless continuation of their skyline-inspired AW22 Men’s Collection, Alexander McQueen looks to the cosmos to create a dark, sensuous and mystical SS23 Collection — drawing elements of the night into sparkling and irregular patterns and fabric. Finding the point in which dusk meets an evening glow, the ambient line introduces a new take on McQueen’s bespoke tailoring — deconstructing and reconstructing it in a way which brings with it the promise of new beginnings, much like the season of spring.
With blended colour palettes incorporating shades of dusty blue, crisp white and midnight black, the entire capsule offers an effortless transition from day to night. Looking to the silhouettes to add a layer of edge, inverted collars, unexpected cut-outs and eyelet adorned harnesses subvert the status quo of menswear — inspiring a more experimental attitude towards traditional suits, shirts and accessories.
Embroidering metallic threads into boxy blazers and embellishing crystal constellations across classic cotton and silk, McQueen play with patterns in a daring yet conserved manner. Elsewhere, the irregular cuts and asymmetric stitching elevate the collection to new heights, while heavy-chain bags tie in components of streetwear.
Forever fearless in their approach to destabilise the boundaries of menswear, the SS23 Men’s Collection marks an exciting new era for Alexander McQueen — where the irregular becomes inspiration, and the unexpected becomes the norm.
