Low-key newlyweds Lena Dunham and Luis Felber stepped out together for the premiere of Dunham’s new dark comedy Sharp Stick in Los Angeles on July 25.
Felber, a British-Peruvian musician, did the music for the movie, which was written and directed by Dunham, her first feature since 2010’s indie breakout Tiny Furniture. The pair are celebrating 10 months of marriage after tying the knot in an intimate but chic ceremony in London in September of last year. You may remember her bridesmaids included one Miss Taylor Alison Swift.
For the occasion, Dunham chose a silvery silk slip dress, chunky platform Mary Janes, and a stack of bracelets. She kept her makeup simple with a swipe of black liner and pulled her hair into a bun accessorized with a headband. Felber wore a sheer shirt and black slacks with black leather mules adorned with metal flowers, plus blue nail polish for a pop of color.
“We didn’t get to go to Sundance because it was all virtual, so this is my first time seeing it in the theater, this is my first time seeing it with my friends, first time seeing it with the cast,” Dunham told People at the premiere. “So I’m just thrilled…. It feels like a very relaxed atmosphere in which to do it.”
Sharp Stick, about an affair between a naive young woman and her older employer, stars Kristine Froeth, Luka Sabbat, Jon Bernthal, Scott Speedman, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Tommy Dorfman, Taylour Paige, Janicza Bravo, and Lena Dunham herself. And it’s not Dunham’s only major motion picture premiering this year! Her adaptation of the Y.A. classic Catherine Called Birdy will hit the Toronto International Film Festival in September, per Variety. Better get another dress ready! After a limited theatrical run, CCB will be available on Prime in October. Just don’t mix these two movies up when you’re planning family movie night.
