Dressed in a gilded Atelier Versace gown dripping with chandelier beads, Amal Clooney joined her husband George Clooney at the inaugural Albie Awards—a new event established by the couple and the Clooney Foundation to honor “global justice defenders [journalists, human rights leaders] who are at great risk for what they do”—in New York on Thursday, September 29.
Given that she was playing host for the night, Amal pulled out all the stops with a 1920s flapper-inspired look. The silhouette and the intricate embellishment on her gold dress exuded Old Hollywood glamour, and her side-parted waves and bold red lip added to the retro mood. Amal added metallic accessories: a gold clutch with a chain and silver sandals that complemented the detail on the dress.
Versace has been behind some of Amal’s best looks to date. The house supplied the lemon-yellow gown that Amal wore for her debut at Cannes Film Festival in 2016. Then, after giving birth to twins in 2017, she made her return to the red carpet in a similarly ethereal purple dress. After George, the brand is Amal Clooney’s perfect plus one.
