Wrapping up a summer of muted neutrals and pastel plaids, Tommy Hilfiger is trading humble classics for eclectic patterns, collapsing the boundaries of gender and time in new limited-edition capsule with renowned designer Richard Quinn. A collaborative effort of the global brand and British creative, the capsule—made up of 40 sensational pieces—pulls from Hilfiger’s signature prep to welcome newfound graphic grandeur in dynamic, textured prints and vivid, striking color.
Featuring the brand’s recently launched “TH Monogram” and Quinn’s trademark daisy, seen checkered in tandem across pleated skirts and peacoats, the capsule represents a strongly cultivated visual identity. “I’ve always been inspired by working with creatives who push boundaries, and Richard is no exception,” says Tommy Hilfiger. “We’ve brought together our two distinct aesthetics to create a rebellious take on modern Prep. It’s unexpected and optimistic, and reflects the playful spirit at the heart of both our brands.”
Blending cultural archetypes (the punk, the jock… you know the deal) with Tommy Hilfiger’s American classics, Quinn brings a witty, modern eye to the design table. Contrasting adored staples with an edge of mix-and-match, he decorates everything from a ‘90s-inspired varsity jacket to floral blue trousers with ‘70s flares. “Tommy and I share the same obsession for prints and textiles, so it was a natural joy to balance and combine our visions for this collaboration,” says Richard Quinn. “It was inspiring to dive into Tommy’s archives and find the iconic pieces that became the canvases for our co-creation. We pushed ourselves to be dramatic and vibrant with every detail — in the pursuit of progress — and the final pieces do not disappoint.”
With diverse inspiration but no lack of integrity, the capsule makes way for repeated motifs across quality textiles, including printed velour and high-density twill. Delavé denim and elevated knits are a base for patterned boots and silk accessories, while a reversible monogram puffer hones in on practicality. To showcase the capsule in a visual campaign, the pieces can be found in an electric conceptual film and photographs by Adrienne Raquel. As we celebrate this fusion of creative genius, complete with all its varied tastes, one truth becomes overwhelmingly clear: Sometimes, two minds don’t have to think alike—and the result is all the better.
Starting September 1, Tommy Hilfiger X Richard Quinn will officially launch online and in select Tommy Hilfiger stores, as well as select boutiques.
