Oh my god, it’s a purse. And in my estimation, this is a huge clue about where Carrie is, emotionally. Yes, she’s recovering from her late husband B*g’s death, but she’s also, literally, holding onto him, because birds-as-accessories are a huge part of their love story.
You may remember that for her first wedding, the one that didn’t end up happening, Carrie wore a Full Bird On Her Head; she wore another bird headpiece in the first season of AJLT, as well.
Before that, in the original series, when she and her then-boyfriend are struggling to say “I love you,” B*g expresses his feelings by giving Carrie a Judith Lieber wristlet shaped like a swan. She hates it, but still.
So, carrying a pigeon purse for a day of shopping with Charlotte? Yep, she’s got her dead husband on her mind.
But what about that jumpsuit? Well, Kate McGuire, the British sustainable fashion activist behind the account @convertedcloset, grabbed it from eBay and refurbished it herself. It’s a 1960s USAF K-2B that has been meticulously repaired and upcycled, per a press release. Sustainable!
