My cleanser
I’ve been using the Hourglass cleanser. It’s a creamy cleanser. I really love my cleansers to be gentle. Let’s say I wore a lot of makeup or something, I’ll use a micellar water first and then I’ll do the cleanser on top. I really love a milkier creamy formulation just because I feel like it isn’t as stripping. I also feel like any sort of oils break down makeup better.
My exfoliator
I’m not super dedicated to this step. Sometimes I’ll use the Biologique Recherche P50. I think it’s great, but I’m not a believer in exfoliating every day. If you are constantly exfoliating, I think your skin gets so challenged and compromised. So I’ll use it if I feel like I need it or if I look more congested or I need to brighten my face.
My serum
I actually just started using SkinBetter Science. There’s one called Alto Defense that the dermatologist Dan Belkin gave me, actually. He recommended it, and I really like that one. It feels really good, and my tone looks a little better. I have a tendency to get red, and I don’t get red really anymore since I started using it.
My moisturizer
I’m using my new one. It’s called the Ellis Brooklyn Satisfying Skin Care and Moisturizer. This step is so easy. Sometimes if I’m too tired, I’ll skip the toner and the serum and just use this moisturizer. It has multiple steps built in one. It has the clinicals and the strong actives: niacinamide and catechins. But we also have the protective aspect, which is the red algae. And the texture I really love. Not too heavy, but also has this fluffiness to it and it’s super hydrating at the same time. And also, it has this nice, cozy vanilla scent. So that’s my mainstay right now. Sometimes I skip eye cream and use it as my eye cream.
My eye cream
I used to wear really heavy eye creams because I thought I was aging and needed to tackle those lines. But then one day I got a facial from Melanie Simon in LA. I used to have really bad bags underneath my eyes, and she said it’s because my eye cream was so thick it was clogging up my eyes. I was like, “What? I’ve never heard of this in my life.” She said, “You should really go for a very light eye cream. You don’t even need to necessarily apply it every single day. You should just apply it on the crow’s feet.” That was a whole new game changer for me when she told me that. I do Prevage Eye Cream. I also tried a Caudalie one recently that I really liked; it’s creamy, but on the lighter side. It’s the Premier Cru one.
My face mask
I use a lot of face masks, probably one every week. There’s one by Omorovicza, the Ultramoor Mud Mask. I’m combination skin, so I like to put that on my nose and my T-zone where it can get a little bit of congestion. Some mud masks are so drying, but this one is really soothing. It’s weird because it cleans, but it has this plumping aspect to it.
My spot treatment
I have an Avéne spot treatment from their acne prone line. Cleanance Emulsion. It’s a mattifying emulsion, even though it’s supposed to be a spot treatment.
My face mist
I wasn’t using a face mist for the longest time. Then I had some samples sitting around and my boyfriend, who’s this 220 pound ex-hockey player, started using face mists. I was like, “Hmm, why? This is interesting.” It’s the Royal Fern face mist.
My sunscreen
I’ve been using the EltaMD one. The old classic one.
My lip balm
I’ve been using two pretty religiously. The Rhode peptide lip and the Summer Fridays lip balm. I think they’re both super fun. The Rhode one, I have the watermelon flavor. It’s so good.
My devices
I should be using devices more. Sometimes I get lazy. But when I’m being really good, I have this LED book thing. It’s the DPL II. It’s pretty strong in a good way. My skin looks brighter. It’s one of those things I think you’re supposed to use all the time, but I don’t know if I always do. But I see a difference. It’s tough though, it’s hard to even find time to do basic things.
