Dame Emma Thompson joined Lashana Lynch in promoting Roald Dahl’s ‘Matilda The Musical’ on Wednesday (October 5) in London.
Emma made jackets the focal point of both her press conference and premiere looks.
Starting with the press conference, the actress – who plays Miss Trunchbull in the film – put on a multi-coloured display wearing a Dries Van Noten Vilma abstract print denim jacket from the Spring 2022 collection.
Awash with a panoply of vivid colours, she was wise to keep the rest of her look neutral – although some might say those cocoon-shaped jeans weren’t a wise decision.
Chloé Nama embroidered sneakers completed her look.
For the premiere, her Stella McCartney Altermart fringe vegan leather jacket from the Pre-Fall 2022 collection certainly provided the biggest selling point.
I will forever associate fringe jackets with westerns, country music and Coachella, but I’m pleasantly surprised by how much I don’t dislike it in this setting.
The resurgence of ’70s silhouettes back in full swing (pardon the pun), but could the flared trousers have been a bit more flattering?
Yes, but for the rest (including the simplicity of the Stella McCartney star T-shirt), I think she nailed it because it suits her personality and her more laid back approach to red carpet dressing.
