The 2nd Annual Academy Museum Gala was held at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures on Saturday (October 15) in Los Angeles, California.
I had said that I was surprised to have not seen any Louis Vuitton Spring 2023 looks yet, but it would appear that Nicolas Ghesquière was waiting for this event to present his most recent collection where his brand ambassadors were in attendance.
Most notably Emma Stone who wore a Louis Vuitton Spring 2023 dress which presented a girlie flare that I’m not used to from the brand unless it’s a custom look.
I have a feeling this will get a mixed reaction, but I like this. From the mixture of textures – leather and lace – to the simple styling of the look.
Keeping the lace tights gave this look the edge it needed.
There was no way that a Nicolas Ghesquière Louis Vuitton Spring 2023 collection was going to be presented on the red carpet without Alicia Vikander in attendance.
Much like Emma Stone, I do like this look for all the same reasons.
Going sans lace tights also works, as does not wearing those heavy LV boots.
Renate Reinsve’s Louis Vuitton Spring 2023 leather dress with an oversized buckle belt was one of my favourite looks from this collection.
Sadly, I didn’t envision boardroom pumps with this look, although I guess they are a better option for her than the Louis Vuitton lug boots we saw on the runway.
However, I did have this on my wish list for Olivia Rodrigo with the boots, as this feels like a Gen-Z red carpet look.
I love this Louis Vuitton Spring 2023 look for Sophie Turner, mostly because of how the mahogany leather elements are complementary to her hair colour.
Sophie has always been that girl who can sell a Louis Vuitton look, and even though you haven’t been crazy about her recent LV looks, I think this sees her back on track.
Do you agree?
Joe Jonas wasn’t the person to sell this Louis Vuitton Spring 2023 printed buckle and belt loop look to me.
It feels too edgy for him. I need someone with a bit more rock n’ roll pedigree to sell this to me.
Hoyeon in Louis Vuitton can do no wrong for me. This is another classic example.
She has the right energy and attitude to sell each look, plus I love the edits she made to the runway look.
Ava DuVernay was oozing elegance in her Louis Vuitton custom look styled with a Louis Vuitton Petite Malle clutch inspired by the Fall 2022 collection.
You may remember that Cate Blanchett wore a similar embellished look to the Chaplin Award Gala back in April.
While I love this Louis Vuitton Spring 2023 look on Lous and the Yakuza, I feel that she could’ve served up the trickier pieces with ease.
When I see Alana and Este Haim in their respective Louis Vuitton Spring 2023 looks I’m not at all surprised that I’m just not feeling either of them.
I did believe their style was going to turn a corner when Alana had such a stellar awards season, but as a group their style always has a feeling of just thrown together, and let’s hope that it works vibe.
Unfortunately, it rarely does for me and this isn’t brand specific.
There are many looks from this collection that would’ve served these two women infinitely better.
Now when it comes to these oversized zipper pieces, this is really the moment I was waiting for, and the pressure to serve this look fell to my girl Jurnee Smollett.
Honestly. I’m kinda underwhelmed. Possibly it’s because my expectations for these pieces were too high, or maybe it’s because I made the top a v-neck piece.
I don’t know what is throwing me, but I’m not as excited as I was expecting to be about this outing.
