Always ahead of the game, CHANEL is preparing for yet another summer of luxury. For those perennial jet-setters, CHANEL presents their Cruise 2022/23 collection. After debuting at the Monte-Carlo Beach Hotel last May, the Cruise collection now sails its way down to Miami’s Faena Hotel. With a theatrical backdrop designed by cinema magnate Baz Luhrmann, CHANEL’s Miami showing is sure to excite those longing for vacation season to roll back around.
The Miami runway presenation was both a fashion show and a who’s-who, drawing some of the biggest names in arts and culture right now. Among the attendees were Pharrell Williams, Lily-Rose Depp, Marion Cotillard, and Phoebe Tonkin. These cultural figures are not only CHANEL Cruise lovers but also ambassadors for the brand. Also in attendance were actors Ella Balinska, Arden Cho, and Andrés Velencoso, as well as musician Nile Rodgers.
CHANEL’s voyage to Miami was not just a collection display, though. The event also included a performance by Nile Rodgers and CHIC, singing classics like “Le Freak” and “Everybody Dance.” Pharrell Williams also made his artistic mark upon the show, coming up on stage for a rendition of “Get Lucky.” The day after the showing, 190 students attended a masterclass with the president of CHANEL’s fashion activities, Bruno Pavlosky, as well as Pharrell Williams and Caroline de Maigret.
As for the collection itself, CHANEL attempts to combine inspirations and aesthetic patterns for its vacation-themed garments. Colorways harken back to bikers and bandits, while silhouettes offer a bit more fluidity. This is not your standard bikini-laden vacation collection. No, this is for the suave, elegant woman hopping from destination to destination, living her best life. Though the looks demonstrate their jet-setting utility, they aren’t gauche or overbearing. Like almost any other CHANEL showing, the Cruise 2022/23 collection remains classy.
By creating a Miami showing of their previously debuted collection, CHANEL is quite literally demonstrating the function of their garments. As the wearer is meant to traverse cities, the collection travels the world. From Monaco to Miami, the international showings demonstrate how the collection stands up to any and all of your favorite travel destinations. It’s not only about spectacle; it’s practical too.
