The legendary New York hotel has been decked out in the brand’s signature crystals in celebration of the holiday season
There is no time of year quite like the holiday season, especially in New York City. And in celebration of the occasion, Swarovski has teamed up with The Mark Hotel to transform the landmark destination into a crystalized, glittering gingerbread house.
“The Mark is a New York City icon, and we are so pleased to bring Swarovski’s vision of holiday joy and wonder to this prestigious hotel,” says Swarovski Creative Director Giovanna Engelbert in a statement released to V. “For me, gingerbread evokes childlike wonder, inspiring us to dream, so it has been a great pleasure to design an experience that will spark people’s imaginations at this magical time of year.”
The facade of the hotel has been created to resemble a classic holiday cookie with millions of toffee-colored Swarovski crystals covering the walls. The roof of the entryway is coated in a frosting look-alike: hand-sculpted, crystal-dusted fiberglass.
Giant candy canes line the entrance with an emerald crystallized bow overhead—the perfect setting for the two nutcrackers that stand guard to the hotel. Two gingerbread-themed carts are stationed outside of the hotel, where guests and passer-byers can grab hot chocolate and mega-sized lollipops.
Inside of the hotel, the gingerbread theme is continued, highlighted by a dazzling Christmas tree surrounded by jewelry cases that are sure to inspire some new must-haves for your holiday wishlist. For the elaborate partnership, Swarovski has used reimagined crystals, an initiative that gave life to unused crystals that would have otherwise been discarded. In lieu of this holiday extravaganza, the pair kicked it off with a star-studded dinner with guests like Emily Ratajkowski, Irina Shayk, Tanya Taylor, and Indya Moore, and many more all dazzling in the newest Swarovski accoutrement.
The Swarovski holiday installation will be at The Mark, New York, from November 14, 2022, to January 7, 2023.
