Winter has come back around, and it always feels like such a hard season to dress for. How do you go about looking cute, while also staying cosy? This season our feeds have been infiltrated with a dizzying array of trends, and when embarking on a new aesthetic – it’s kind of difficult to know where to start. So, we’ve decided to gather up our four favourite trends of the season, and offer them up to you – depending on your star sign. Whether you think your fate is destined in the stars, or that astrology is a bunch of bollocks – we’re embodying the energy of each sign, and outlining ways to incorporate these trends into your powder-fresh new winter look. From tantalising tights, and ferocious fur, to bewitching bonnets – we’ll show you how to keep warm, and look hot.

Fire – Tights

Starting off in a blaze, we’re playing with fire. Fire signs are typically characterised by their audacious energy. Thriving in the spotlight, and always the centre of attention – they love when people take notice. With that in mind, the perfect trend for a fire sign to implement this winter is fun, playful tights. We’ve been seeing an array of tights all over the coolest girls on Instagram. Whether they’re vibrantly coloured, patterned, or lacy – there are so many different ways you could try on tights for size. Instantly eye catching, and sure to cause a commotion – consider shopping around for some that match your vibe.

Earth – Cabin Sleaze

So the ‘Cabin Sleaze’ aesthetic is fairly new, first coined by @tofuforyou on TikTok – although its roots can be traced to the absolutely sensational DSquared Fall 2004 runway show. Earthy, outdoorsy, and nature-inspired – it has Earth sign written all over it. The Y2K trend has been around for a minute, but Sarah (@tofuforyou) reckons that Cabin Sleaze evolves the silhouettes we’ve already seen – subverting the abundance of fur and knit by pairing these pieces with barely there mini skirts, shorts, and crop tops. Infused with elements of ‘gorpcore’ too, Cabin Sleaze typically features earth tones – greens, browns, whites, and greys. Subdued, yet still playful – this aesthetic is perfect for the ‘down to Earth’ signs who want to heat things up while it’s cold.

Water – Post-irony

‘Post-irony’ as a trend has been making waves for a while now, with brands like OGBFF and Praying dominating our feeds with utterly iconic, tongue-in-cheek slogan tees. It’s safe to say that it’s a fairly polarising trend – some think it’s tacky, while others are drawn to it for that exact same reason. That said, the Post-irony trend seems well suited to water signs, and we think they’d welcome the chaos. Tending to wear their heart on their sleeve, what better way to express yourself than, quite literally, through your clothes? Taking oversharing to a whole new level, this trend is super easy to DIY. With transfer paper, a plain charity shop hoodie, scissors, and a dream – why not lift your winter blues with some good old irony?

Air – Bonnets

Last up on the list are the Air signs. Cute, but calculated – Air signs tend to be quite logical, although they pride themselves on turning a look or two. Knitwear is a trend that is seemingly here to stay, and to get into specifics – bonnets are here in a very big way this winter. Keeping you warm and toasty, while also being totally adorable – there’s a range of bonnet styles to go for. If you’ve been considering taking up knitting or crocheting – crafting up a bonnet would be the perfect first project for you to embark on. You can have so much fun with it! There are so many different colours, yarns, textures, and embellishments to choose from; we think Air signs would be down for looking cute, without compromising comfort.
