Jennifer Lopez’s forthcoming studio album, This Is Me…Now, is something of a follow-up to This Is Me…Then, which was released in 2002 during her initial relationship with now-husband Ben Affleck. Discussing this evolution requires thought, openness, and a look that pays homage to where Lopez has been and where she’s going.

Rather than the rich tones and neutrals that J.Lo has been favoring as of late, nail artist Tom Bachik painted the pop star’s elongated manicure in a light, almost cream-colored yellow, the buttery shade providing a chic levity to Jennifer Lopez’s look (the blue Mongolian fur collar helped, too). The buoyant choice, an unexpected alternative to dark winter nails, also echoed Lopez’s sentiments around the album.
“Now, I think what the message of the album is, very much: If you were wondering, if you have, like me at times, lost hope, almost given up—don’t,” she says. “Because true love does exist, and some things do last forever. And that’s real.” And what better accoutrement to this sentiment than an optimistic yellow polish?
