In documenting her experience with in vitro fertilization (IVF) on The Kardashians, Kourtney Kardashian wasn’t shy about how the process wore her out. (I mean, when has Kourtney Kardashian ever been shy about anything?) Now, 10 months after deciding to quit IVF, the Poosh founder tells followers she’s finally beginning to feel back to normal.
“Finally started getting my energy back 10 months after stopping IVF,” she wrote in an Instagram Story, over a black-and-white pic of her treadmill dashboard. “For anyone else going through it, it gets better!”
On The Kardashians, Kourt explained how she and her new husband Travis Barker, though they both have kids from their previous relationships, wanted to have a baby together. She described the process as, in a word, “awful.”
“Travis and I want to have a baby and so my doctor took us down this road of doing IVF and it hasn’t been the most amazing experience,” Kardashian told her mom Kris Jenner on the show, per People. She also claimed, “The medication that they’ve been giving me, they put me into menopause.” Now, to be clear, doctors across the board are pretty unanimous that the idea that IVF medications can cause early menopause is a myth, though they might cause menopause-like symptoms. Kardashian is 43 years old so it might not be drug-induced menopause so much as, you know, menopause.
Either way, IVF obviously took a lot out of Kourtney Kardashian both physically and mentally. “We started an IVF journey, but I stopped. It was a lot,” she told Wall Street Journal in September, adding that she was putting herself on a cleanse to rid her body of “toxins” and hopefully prepare for getting pregnant in the future.
