I don’t know who first started spreading it around that there was going to be a sequel to the 2006 Christmas favorite The Holiday, featuring all four of its original stars, but hopefully nobody got too excited about it because Nancy Meyers has already put the kibosh on the rumors.
On December 5, The Sun reported that a sequel to The Holiday was in the works, with Kate Winslet, Jack Black, Cameron Diaz, and Jude Law already signed on and prepared to start filming next year. “The plan is to start rolling on scenes next year, primarily in the UK and in Europe, but the main talent are all signed up and on board,” the source said. If that’s true, nobody told Meyers, the writer and director of the original film.

Taking to her Instagram on December 6, Meyers quickly debunked the story in a caption next to a headline from the Daily Mail. “So many DM’s about this,” she wrote. “Sorry but it’s not true. ❤️.” Winslet, who supposedly has already signed on for the reboot, has backed her up. “I read something about that, but it’s the first I’ve heard of it,” she told People. “I promise you not an agent or a representative or anyone from the first one around has had any conversation with me about that. Hand on heart, that’s never come up.”
