Trends come and go, but Gorpcore has stayed firmly put thanks to fans like Hailey Bieber. First coined by The Cut in 2017—inspired by the saying “good ol’ raisins and peanuts,” a colloquial name for trail mix—the term reemerged in 2021, used to describe the newfound post-lockdown obsession with practical footwear, puffers and outdoor activities. Come 2023, and Gorpcore is still relevant—and popular!—beloved by It-girls and avid trekkers alike.
Salomon’s dad sneakers came to define the 2021 movement, and Bieber is still wearing hers. The model posed for an Instagram post wearing a vintage sports tee, a slouchy leather jacket, bright red socks and a blue version of Salomon’s XT-4 trainers.
