Willow, the 11-year-old daughter of punk pop star Pink, just got a job working on her mother’s tour.
During an appearance on Today on Tuesday, February 21, Pink shared that Willow will be joining her tour this summer, which follows the release of her ninth studio album, Trustfall. “Willow has a job on tour,” Pink said. “We just had to go over minimum wage, and it’s different state to state.”
Pink used the opportunity to teach Willow, who, like her mother, has singing chops, how to negotiate. “I said it’s about $22.50 a show depending how long I go, if I run over,” Pink said. “She goes, ‘I’ll take $20. It’s easier to do the math.’ I’m like, ‘That’s not how you negotiate for yourself.’ I’m like, ‘You’ll take $25 so it’s easier math.’”
I can relate to the math struggle (Willow might be better at it than I am) but, unfortunately, cannot relate to making upwards of $20 per hour, or any money at all, at age 11. The details of Willow’s job on the tour were not disclosed. Pink’s six-year-old son, Jameson, is also accompanying his mom and sis on tour, but he has not negotiated a position for himself, since he is six.
It’s fitting that Willow is an active participant in the tour, because one of the songs, “Turbulence,” is about her, according to Pink. “I hate telling people what a song is about because it’s whatever it’s about for you,” she said on Today. “But for me, it’s just speaking to anxiety and walking my daughter through it and down that road.”
Pink’s Trustfall tour starts on June 7 in the UK and arrives in the US in late July, with the first show in Cincinnati on July 26. Pink will continue the tour in the States through November and pick back up in early 2024, when she takes it to Australia and New Zealand.
