Maya Hawke is filling her time before filming resumes for the fifth and final season of Stranger Things, where she plays alternative teenager and video shop girl Robin Buckley. The actor, who is the daughter of Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke, released her second album, Moss, last year, and she’s utilizing the break in her schedule to explore her interest in fashion. The 24-year-old has recently taken up modeling in campaigns for Prada’s fine jewelry and Calvin Klein’s underwear.
Just this week Maya soaked up the runways at Milan Fashion Week. The actor explored her aesthetic, creating a “cottagecore meets grunge girl” ensemble before sitting front row at the Prada AW23 show. There, Maya layered an oversized blue gingham shirt, which she wore as a dress, over a pair of black shorts with sheer tights and block-heel Mary Jane shoes. But what really set the look apart was the rock-and-roll beauty look she teamed with it.
Maya stepped out with her shaggiest hairstyle yet, having previously cut her strands into a layered bob. The actor rocked the newest cool-girl chop, the cub cut—which for the uninitiated is basically a bob-length rendition of the wolf cut that dominated hair trends last year. It’s a shag-mullet-bob hybrid that’s heavy on dreamy texture but delivers a little extra edginess by leaning into the “indie sleaze” texture made popular in the ’90s. Think loose, gritty waves.
