From Cate Blanchett to Zendaya, actors of all ages, hair textures and personal styles showed up with iterations of the bouncy bob haircut—indicating a return to the sort of va-va-voom, curled blow dries we said goodbye to over the pandemic. Drawing on Old Hollywood glamour and icons like Marilyn Monroe and Princess Grace of Monaco, these bobs had big waves through ends, which lent a certain polished “bounce.”
An excellent way to draw attention to elegant necklines and sculpted jawlines, the bouncy bob represents red-carpet beauty at its finest. Take Zendaya, the belle of the ball, whose side-parted bob had the perfect amount of oomph and body – it toed the fine line between glamorous and cool. (With a style like this, there is a risk of looking overly “done”.) Her hairstylist Tai Simon used OGX’s Coconut Curls Decadent Creamy Mousse to volumize and hold the style.
Blanchett’s bouncy bob was also worn with a side part, but her buttery blonde curls felt more defined. And Aubrey Plaza—who recently made the switch back to brunette, having tried a dramatic bleached blonde—sported a similar look.

Viola Davis’s bouncy bob was shorter than her counterparts’ versions, drawing attention to her glossy décolletage, and was styled into tighter curls through mid-lengths and ends. And then, lest we forget, there was Simona Tabasco (you’ll know her as Lucia in The White Lotus), whose softer, looser curls created a slightly more relaxed—but no less beguiling—finish.
