Since Jeremy Scott was named creative director of Moschino in October 2013, the American designer rose to fame thanks to his out-of-the-box, campy designs. Now, 10 years later, the designer has announced he will be leaving the company.
In a statement posted to Instagram, Scott writes, “After 10 years I am announcing today that I will be leaving Moschino. I’ve had a blast creating designs that will live on forever. I am grateful for all the love and support I’ve received over this past decade. As I close this chapter I am filled with excitement & anticipation and can’t wait to share with you all what I have in store for you next !”
With an outpouring of support in his comments section, it is clear that fans and fashion lovers around the world are surprised by the news. Many see Scott as synonymous with Moschino – user @guigoxx commented, “my god moschino doesn’t exist without you” – and are on the edge of their seats to see what the designer does next. It seems the designer will remain at the helm of his namesake brand.
From real-life paper dolls to a total Barbie collection to Julia Roberts’ custom George Clooney gown, Scott’s designs for Moschino have become hallmarks in pop-culture history, bringing a sense of fun and playfulness to the industry. Dressing innumerable A-listers including Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, and Katy Perry for events spanning from the Met Gala to the Super Bowl, Scott’s iconic moments are too many to name – and we will be waiting with bated breath to see what the designer does next.
