The Great Unfollowing of Joe Alwyn continues with Gigi Hadid.
On April 19 fans and gossip accounts began reporting that Ryan Reynolds had unfollowed Alwyn on Instagram after a night out in New York City with his wife Blake Lively and their longtime friend Taylor Swift. In case you somehow missed it, news broke earlier this month that Swift and Alwyn had split after six years together. Initial reports suggested that the breakup wasn’t “dramatic” and was caused by “differences in their personalities,” but now fans are not so sure.
Reynolds wasn’t the only one who seemed to pick Swift’s side post-breakup (despite his writing a tribute to Alwyn for the Time 100 list in 2022). According to screenshots shared by fans, many of Swift’s confidants also unfollowed Alwyn, including her brother Austin Swift and all three Haim sisters. On April 20, Just Jared reported that Gigi Hadid still followed the 32-year-old Conversations With Friends actor. As of April 21, that is no longer the case.
This update comes a day after Hadid was photographed in NYC with Swift, Lively, and the Haim sisters. Alwyn still follows the 27-year-old supermodel.
“Something is going on,” said one TikTok user who recently discussed the ongoing drama in a video. Since neither Swift nor Alwyn has publically commented on their breakup, fans seem to be looking for their own explanations. Earlier this week actor Emma Laird faced the brunt of the backlash after sharing a photo of Alwyn in a set of Instagram photos from March. Despite the fact that Laird is starring alongside Alwyn in The Brutalist, many Swifties jumped right to cheating allegations and misogynistic responses, leading to Laird’s turning off the post‘s comments.
Clearly, Taylor Swift’s friends and fans have her back, but considering we don‘t have all the facts (if any of them), I suggest we all be a bit more delicate. Is it cool that I said all that?
