Perfect human and Yellowjackets star Melanie Lynskey is bringing colorful suiting to the red carpet once again. Following up on the sexy teal blazer-dress she wore to the Yellowjackets season two premiere in March, the actor wore a bubblegum pink suit to PaleyFest LA on April 3, and I am loving this new era for her.
Lynskey’s double-breasted blazer and wide-legged trousers made for a classic silhouette, while the suit’s Barbiecore hue kept the look fun and flirty. Instead of a lacy bustier, Lynskey went with a simple black camisole this time, and swapped the side-pony hair for a low-key side-part. Her choice of heart-shaped crystal pendant necklace really added to the whole Elle Woods aesthetic.

Obviously Shauna, the boyfriend-murdering semi-cannibal Lynskey plays on Yellowjackets, could not be less like Elle Woods of Legally Blonde. In season two, adult Shauna is struggling with the aftermath of having killed Adam while teen Shauna is having an extremely difficult time with the death of her best friend Jackie (to put it mildly).
Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar about season two, Melanie Lynskey described working with the other stars of the show. “I’ve got to say, there were these profound moments where I looked around and thought, Just look at these actors. It’s crazy how good they all are. At one point later on in the season, we were shooting a scene outside at night all together, and it just felt like magic. It felt like witchy magic. I don’t even know how to describe it. We all had chills.” She added, “We were all simultaneously, like, repulsed but excited. There is just a really crazy energy between all of us.”
