Usually Versace hosts many celebrities at the Met Gala, but this year they placed their focus on their current brand ambassador, Anne Hathaway.
The actress, who has been wearing a lot of black Versace lately, wore a custom Atelier Versace gown.
The pearl white colour palette makes a perfect reference to bridal gowns of both Chanel and Versace.
You can ALWAYS rely on Donatella to nail a Met Gala theme, and she paid homage to her dear friend by combining signatures of both Karl Lagerfeld’s Chanel and Donatella’s Versace, referencing Karl and Donatella’s shared design elegance, sensuality, and sense of fun.
The figure-hugging and slashed gown references Versace silhouettes of the ’90s Supermodel era, while a construction of gold thread French tweed, featuring degradé embroidered ton-sur-ton paillette, and Swarovski crystal, recalls Lagerfeld’s time at the House of Chanel.

A matching tweed motorcycle jacket, long gloves and Bulgari jewels including the High Jewelry Monete Necklace in yellow gold set with 1 silver coin and pavé-set diamonds completed her look, along with her go-to ‘60s updo.
Donatella Versace’s look took inspiration from Karl Lagerfeld’s Chanel Spring 2018 collection by playing with transparencies and creating a visual reference to the waterfalls which featured as a backdrop at the collection’s fashion show.
