Bad Bunny provided one of the standout menswear looks from the 2023 Met Gala.
Not only because the rappers all-white Jacquemus suit included a 26-foot floral train, but it was also full of subtle references to Karl Lagerfeld who supported Simon Porte Jacquemus from the start of his career.
The jacket was backless as Simon’s first memory of Karl was a backless dress Nicole Kidman wore in the 2004 TV commercial for Chanel No. 5.
The floral train was inspired by the bridal gown which Claudia Schiffer closed the Chanel 1993 Haute Couture show.
And the inside Bad Bunny’s jacket featured a custom printed picture of Casa Malaparte taken by Karl Lagerfeld in 1997, which felt like a more personal touch the designer’s photography work.
