Cara Delevingne never disappoints when it comes to her Met Gala ’fits. And this year was no exception. The freshly sober model and actor delivered one of the evening’s most literal interpretations of the theme, “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.”
Clad in a crisp, collared dress reminiscent of a white button-down, a pair of black fingerless gloves, and a shock of silvery white hair, the British supermodel patterned her look after the late designer’s personal style for the 2023 Met Gala.
Finished with jewelry courtesy of Chrome Hearts, the ensemble was a fitting tribute to Lagerfeld’s own signature look and his legacy more broadly. Over the course of their collaborative, decade-long friendship, Lagerfeld made Delevingne a fixture on Chanel’s runways. And since his passing, the model has spoken movingly of the ways he changed her life and career. She even immortalized their mutual admiration with a capsule collection called Karl Loves Cara, released last fall.
This isn’t the first time Cara Delevingne has stunned at the Met Gala. At last year’s event, she took the “gilded glamour” dress code literally, walking the red carpet with her psoriasis on display in a red suit Dior suit with nothing but gold body paint and pasties underneath.
