Sonam Kapoor delivered a speech about the diversity of Commonwealth nations and introduced the various choir performers from said nations, during the coronation of their majesties King Charles III And Queen Camilla on Sunday (May 7) in Windsor, England.
The Bollywood actress wore a beautiful off-the-shoulder dress which saw East meets West as the Indian label Anamika Khanna and collaborated with New Zealand-born UK-based designer Emilia Wickstead.
Anamika Khanna created the calico-print inspired textile, while Emilia Wickstead crafted the bespoke design of the dress.
Sonam’s stylist Nikhil Mansata said, “Anamika Khanna and Emilia Wickstead have demonstrated here the value that can be created when modern design and traditional Indian craft come together.”
However, the actress was highly criticised for this dress, until fashion blogger Aamir Ali Shah shed light on the history of the fabric and why this was a full circle moment.
You don’t have to like the dress to respect the history of the fabric.
Jewels from Jessica McCormack and Garrard completed her look.
