Beyonce's Renaissance Tour Honoured Juneteenth With All Black Designers

Trying to keep up with Beyonce’s Renaissance Tour wardrobe is a full-time job in itself, so I commend the ladies and gentlemen who have been working around the clock on these looks.

No wonder she has a team which includes JK Moody, Julia Sarr-Jamois and Shiona Turini, plus the teams behind those talented stylists.

Juneteenth – Monday, June 19 – is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans.

Beyonce was on tour in Amsterdam at the time, but that didn’t stop her honouring the occasion by wearing all black designers on this day.

Now we all know that Beyonce is shy when it comes to Instagram captions, but on this day she announced to her 312 million Instagram followers, “In honor of Juneteenth, everything I wore for RENAISSANCE WORLD TOUR tonight was created exclusively by Black designers.”

Those designers included creative director of Ferragamo, Maximilian Davis, Balmain creative director, Olivier Rousteing, Off-White designer Ibrahim Kamara, Feben, LaQuan Smith, and her own Ivy Park label.

Sadly, she didn’t tag any of those designers on her Instagram posts, but here is a rundown of the looks she wore on that night.

I had to start with my favourite of the night, which was a custom Ferragamo embroidered dress designed by Maximilian Davis.

The dress appears simple enough in design, but I’m sure the beads and crystals amplified this dress as the spotlight was on her as she performed the opening ballads on stage.

Tiffany & Co. bone cuffs and Giuseppe Zanotti silver sandals completed her look.

My second favourite was this custom Balmain look which saw her channel yet another robo-couture silver-armoured bodysuit.

For the Beyhive portion of the show, the singer wore another custom Balmain look which featured a black and yellow embroidered bodysuit and matching hat.

With Beyonce’s new adidas x Ivy Park collection dropping during her world tour, the singer shone a spotlight on the collection by rocking this double slit dress with the adidas stripes down the side which was giving me Barbiecore vibes.

This look was styled with custom-made heels by Malone Souliers.

Ferragamo also designed this silver lamé jersey draped mini dress with scarf detailing and gloves and custom thigh high boots.

The look was styled with a bejewelled pair of Tiffany & Co. shades

Feben, who is a designer based in London, and recent graduate of Central Saint Martins, created this embellished jumpsuit.

Her work plays with popular imagery that links all Black people to create an aesthetic vision embedded in community: a vision at once familiar and other-worldly, accessible and playful but bound to the codes of luxury.

Jimmy Choo shoes completed this look.

We’ve had Barbiecore, but Discocore closed the show as Beyonce wore a broken mirrored jumpsuit from LaQuan Smith with the same custom-made heels by Malone Souliers she wore previously.
