The Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition Preview Party, which took place on Tuesday (June 6) in London, is RA’s biggest annual fundraising event and one of the highlights of London’s social calendar.
Guests were the first to view and buy works at the world-famous Summer Exhibition and enjoy a glamorous evening in the beautiful surroundings of the Royal Academy.
The purpose of the Summer Exhibition, which was set up in 1768, is to raise funds to support the Royal Academy Schools, Britain’s first art school and the next generation of artists.
Charli XCX was in attendance, and nothing as you know, I love nothing better than a black dress for a summer party (heavy on the sarcasm).
Considering we are talking about Charli XCX I was hardly expecting a floral summer dress, but when I came to her Givenchy I do love how the label put their signature slant on the little black dress with this jacquard-knit style featuring an all-over raised 4G motif.
But the party was really in the back, as a look at the back reveals a sheer panel and a cowl-bum.
Did Charli XCX try to inject some summer flair into her look with those white Givenchy Shark Lock boots?
I wish she hadn’t.
I understand that these boots are hugely popular, but they don’t go with her dress at all.
These boots only work for me with skinny trousers or leggings.
They appear cumbersome with a dress, especially one as long as Charli’s.
