Havaianas has teamed up with actress Barbie Ferreira to design a summer collection inspired by their Brazilian roots and their shared love of Brazil.
The 9-piece collection developed and designed by Barbie herself launched today on Havaianas.com just in time for a summer full of beach days, pool hangs and travel.
Inspired by her Brazilian roots, vintage elements of Rio de Janeiro in the 60s and 70s, as well as Brazilian architecture and interior design, Barbie had the freedom to creatively direct the entire collaboration and co-design the collection.
Havaianas x Barbie Ferreira features two iconic shapes in both flip flops and slides in a retro-inspired colour palette that is a nod to Brazil’s rich culture of vintage art, sculptures, texture and lush vegetation.
“Havaianas is an iconic brand that I’ve been wearing since I was in diapers. To me it signifies so much of my culture and my family and Brazil in general. Being Brazilian American has shaped my heart, my art and my fashion endlessly. Getting the chance to design for a company that represents my family, and me, in a nostalgic way is incredibly exciting and I can’t wait for everyone to see what we came up with.” says Barbie.
