We’re all aware that Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales and Queen of Classic Ladylike Style, is very fond of a smart fitted blazer. And she seems to have added a new piece to her vast collection of office-wear-chic jackets, which she wore on a visit to the Windsor Family Hub on June 6. The princess has never been big on color-blocking, but we’ll give her points for pairing this blazer, which has a light blue checked pattern reminiscent of seersucker, with a pair of navy blue cigarette trousers.
A more daring fashionista might have finished the look with a silk blouse or a cheeky stiletto shoe, but the princess went for the more demure option. Kate completed her crisp ensemble with a simple white tee under the blazer and a pair of pointy-toe ballet flats. As usual, her famously wavy brown hair was worn loose and flowing over her shoulders. Princess Kate took a similarly simplistic approach to her jewelry, wearing a minimalist pendant necklace and matching drop earrings.
In fairness, Kate Middleton’s visit to the Windsor Family Hub wasn’t about making a fashion statement. She was there as part of her personal mission to promote childhood wellness and early childhood development. “She was really skilled with our families,” Lin Ferguson, the director of children’s services at Achieving for Children, told People when describing the royal’s visit. “Some of the parents struggle to speak up in environments like that, but she had many of them relaxed and speaking up. I have heard people say before that she is great at putting people at ease but when you see it in action—she just makes it easy, immediately.”
