In the comments, Camille shared that it is the middle of winter in Sydney, and couldn’t imagine themselves wearing the summery looks that Margot Robbie has been wearing while promoting ‘Barbie’ in Australia.
I say all that to say that the actress opted for a pink wool cropped knit from the Versace Fall 1994 collection.
The fabric might have kept the actress warm, but it was still oozing with plenty of Barbie inspired flair with the metallic skirt, purple socks and Versace heels that gave Margot that perfect Barbie arch.
What is most significant about this look, is that it saw Andrew Mukamal delve into the Versace archives, which would literally be my playground.
The look was first worn on the runway by a young Kate Moss, but the look became iconic when it was featured as part of the Gianni Versace 1994 AW ad campaign featuring Nadja Auermann, Christy Turlington, Claudia Schiffer, Cindy Crawford, and Stephanie Seymour, which was shot by legendary photographer Richard Avedon.
This image is ranked as one of the best ad campaigns for Gianni Versace.
This is a beautiful trip down memory lane. I’m having all the nostalgic feels.
