Saturday Night Live alum Pete Davidson, who has spoken candidly about struggling with his mental health in the past, has checked himself into a rehab facility for treatment.
According to Page Six, Davidson is getting treatment for his post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and borderline personality disorder (BPD). One source told Page Six, “Pete regularly goes to rehab for ‘tune ups’ and to take a mental break, so that’s what’s happening.” Another friend said, “Anyone who knows Pete knows that he will always step up and get help when he knows he needs it.”
People, which confirmed the Page Six report, also spoke to insiders who said it’s not uncommon for Davidson to check himself into a facility when he feels he needs help. “Pete will often check himself into rehab to work on these issues,” one source said. “His friends and family have been supportive during this time.” Another source told People that Davidson, “should be getting out pretty soon.”
In 2017, Pete Davidson opened up about going to rehab for his mental health in a podcast interview on WTF With Marc Maron, when he was struggling with symptoms of BPD but hadn’t yet gotten a diagnosis. And in a “Weekend Update” segment on SNL in 2019, per HuffPo, the comedian heavily implied he was headed for another rehab stay, jokingly describing his upcoming “vacation” as, “You know, the kind of vacation where, like, insurance pays for some of it, and they take your phone and shoelaces. And you have roommates but it still costs like a hundred grand.”
As one close friend told Page Six, “He has a lot of people in his corner who love him and support him, and are proud of him.”
