Celebrities are just like us: they get lunch with their co-workers. Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky joined Matt Damon and Luciana Barroso for a double date in Australia.
On Monday, July 31, the actors were spotted out on a lunch date with their wives in Byron Bay, Australia, where Hemsworth and Pataky live. The married couples ate lunch beachside, and were accompanied by some friends. For the outing, both Hemsworth, 39, and Damon, 52, wore blue plaid button-down shirts and aviator-style sunnies. Did they coordinate, or was this an accident? Per photos you can see over at People, Damon carried a stack of wrapped gifts, so this must have been a celebration of some kind. After a quick Google, it appears that Barroso’s birthday is July 31, followed by Hemsworths’ birthday on August 1, and preceded by Pataky’s birthday on July 18. (Damon’s birthday isn’t until October. No gifts for him, probably.)
Both of the married couples have three children together (though Damon is a stepfather to Barroso’s oldest, making them a family of five), and are noted family friends: in 2018, the families were spotted vacationing together in San Sebastian, Spain.
Elsa Pataky wore a long sleeve lavender mini dress with keyhole cutouts at the bodice paired with black wayfarer sunglasses and a white crossbody bag. She wore her blonde hair down and in a middle part. Luciana Barroso, meanwhile, wore a white patterned crop top with emerald green wide-leg trousers. While everyone else in Hollywood appears to be embracing the white-on-white trend, Pataky and Barroso are proving that bold color is always in style.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Damon shared that he told Barroso he would take a break from acting unless he got a call from Oppenheimer director Christopher Nolan. “I actually negotiated in couples therapy—this is a true story*—*the one caveat to my taking time off was if Chris Nolan called,” he said. “This is without knowing whether or not he was working on anything because he never tells you. He just calls you out of the blue. And so, it was a moment in my household.” You can see Damon in Oppenheimer in theaters right now.
