Margot Robbie’s world tour for ‘Barbie’ moved on from Australia to South Korea, where the actress continued to give us Barbiecore in the most literal way.
I have a feeling that these two looks will divide a lot of people.
To give you a back story into these two custom Versace looks; they were inspired by the 1985 ‘Day to Night’ Barbie.
This Barbie celebrated the women’s workplace revolution of that era presenting the ultimate wardrobe transformation—wearing her famous soft pink power suit that transforms into a shirred skirt evening look—her first ever day to night ensemble.
Accessories include a chic hat, briefcase, calculator, pairs of shoes and purse.
There will be a few camps:
Camp 1: This is too literal. I would’ve preferred something inspired by, rather than a copy and paste.
Camp 2: I’m tired of pink on this promo tour.
Camp 3: This was my first Barbie, so I love this.
Camp 4: She can do no wrong.
Camp 5: I did hope to see her personal style away from Chanel.
I don’t think you can do this promo tour without going there, and by there, I mean, giving us full Barbiecore.
I can’t imagine this promo tour without the looks aligning with the Barbie brand, and ultimately, I think this is the reason why she switched stylists ahead of this tour.
Do I like the looks?
I love the campness of the first day look, but the night look fell flat for me.
She had already done that Versace bodice the week before, and I wasn’t a fan of the layers in the skirt, despite it staying true to the original Barbie.
The looks were styled with a Judith Leiber embellished phone, Versace bags, Taffin jewels and Manolo Blahnik shoes.
Thoughts?
