I do love royal pomp and circumstance, and the arrival of the President and the First Lady of the Republic of Korea for their state visit to the United Kingdom today (November 21), was just the occasion I needed before the close of 2023.
King Charles will be hosting the Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol and his wife Kim Keon Hee from November 21-23, in what will be the second incoming state visit hosted by the King during his reign.
All eyes were naturally on Catherine, Princess of Wales, who started off the day looking breath-taking wearing a Catherine Walker red cape coat accented with an oversized bow.
Catherine is not afraid of bright colours, or matching statement hat – this one is by Jane Taylor – but this might be the boldest colour I have ever seen her wear.
The colour was certainly brighter than the Catherine Walker dress she wore inside the Picture Gallery at Buckingham Palace, but that could just be the lighting.
For this evening’s State Banquet, Catherine wore a Jenny Packham gown.
I know what you’re thinking, because I was thinking the same.
Is this rerun? It feels familiar.
It should feel very familiar, because Catherine a similar gown with the same regal accents to the State Banquet for the President of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa on November 22, 2022.
Exactly 363 days ago.
When it came to the styling, for this occasion is that she added white opera gloves, carried a different clutch, and she wore her hair down, which looked beautiful with this first outing of The Strathmore Rose Tiara.
Only the gloves are not working for me here.
