The promo tour for the ‘Barbie’ film may be over, but the promo tour for awards season has just begun.
Chris94 said in the comments last week, “Let’s hope she’ll also do something Barbie inspired for awards shows when Barbie is nominated, that would be so fun.”
And this turned out to be exactly what Andrew Mukamal had in mind, because Margot Robbie attended the 2023 Gotham Awards on Monday (November 27) in New York City, channelling the 1964 ‘Black Magic Ensemble’ Barbie.
For those of us who never wanted this promo tour to end, we have our wish.
Personally, I’m glad for the slight change in direction (as we are pretty much maxed out in pink Barbie looks) for this all-black ensemble designed by Prada.
It’s inspired by Barbie, it’s glamorous for the start of awards season, it doesn’t feel dated despite its inspiration, and it’s delightfully playful to match the mood of the film.
The second season of Barbie is going to be so interesting to watch unfold.
