We’ve seen the likes of Colman Domingo in Louis Vuitton, Charles Melton in Armani, Jared Leto in Givenchy and Lakeith Stanfield in Saint Laurent. So here is a roundup of the other menswear look which graced the red carpet for the 2023 Academy Museum Gala.
Jon Batiste opted to forgo his usual red carpet caped flare, for another style of flare wearing this Alexander McQueen Resort 2024 dragonfly shadow print suit.
A dragonfly is such a delicate creature, but this print so striking and dynamic, it would have been hard to miss Jon on this red carpet.
While this collection also produced a shirt with the same print, I’m glad Jon opted for a white shirt. A printed jacket and shirt may have been overkill.
Were the Christian Louboutin Panamic Dune shoes too distracting here?
We all know how much Tom Blyth loves summery hues from his ‘Hunger Games’ promo tour, but for this occasion he opted for a classic Tom Ford peak lapel Windsor tuxedo with a pique plastron shirt.
I know how many of you are very particular about the size of a bow-tie, so I’m sure you will agree that this one was in perfect proportion.
A Tom Ford black onyx and white gold stud and cufflink set, Edgar lace-up shoes and Cartier timepiece completed his look.
Styled by Michael Fisher.
I’ve missed Zachary Quinto’s effortless style so much on the red carpet.
Everything about this look is so clean. He could wear this for any occasion, and it would just work. He doesn’t have to do much to always look this good.
John Legend was another favourite from the menswear looks dressed in a Casablanca Fall 2023 suit draped with a stunning overcoat.
We all know how much he loves Gucci, but this sharper profile in Casablanca is refreshing.
Styled by David Thomas.
I can’t quite figure out what is throwing me off loving Taylor Zakhar Perez’s custom Prada suit.
It’s either the colour, or the length of the jacket?
This isn’t bad, but this isn’t great. And I prefer great from Taylor.
Styled by Jason Bolden.
Danny Ramirez wore a Dior Men’s collection black double-breasted suit which I loved until I got to the trousers which are too long for my liking.
David Yurman jewels and a CD pin completed his look.
Styled by Wayman + Micah.
Simu Liu wore a Berluti suit which also suffered the same “trousers are too long” fate.
Can someone show Danny and Simu’s stylists the perfect length of Zachary Quinto’s trousers please.
Styled by Chloe Keiko Takayanagi.
The only thing missing from Ke Huy Quan’s Dior Men navy suit is a stylish pin. Perhaps those were his awards season lucky charms.
Either Jesse Williams has worn this Thom Browne suit before, or this exact style is too repetitive.
Adrien Brody wore a Dior Men’s collection navy wool and silk tuxedo.
