Louis Vuitton’s trunks will now be a part of Grand Slam history. After revealing a digital mini trunk NFT, the Louis Vuitton trunk proves to be a timeless, enduring icon as the Official Trophy Trunk partner for the Australian Open.
For the first Grand Slam tournament of 2024, Louis Vuitton has created two striking bespoke trunks: one to house the Daphne Akhurst Memorial Cup for women and the other for the Norman Brookes Challenge Cup for men.
Handcrafted by the maison’s artisans in Asnières, the trunk features the Louis Vuitton Monogram canvas, a lozine leather trim and brass corner protectors, lock and clasps – all hallmarks of the Louis Vuitton trunk. Striking blue microfibre lines the interiors – an homage to the Australian Open’s iconic blue courts – with an “AO” inscribed under the lid, a reference to the tournament. Each trunk is finished with a bold hand-painted “V” in white– for victory and Vuitton, of course – that forms up when the front panels come together.
Louis Vuitton has a long history of creating trunks for the world of tennis, having produced trophy cases for Roland Garros and the Davis Cup, and the sporting world at large, with trophy trunks for the FIFA World Cup, Ballon d’Or, Rugby World Cup, NBA Championship Trophy and even League of Legends.
The two trunks will be on display at the start of the women’s and men’s finals on January 27 and 28, 2024 at the Australian Open, Melbourne. Check out exclusive workshop images of the two trunks below.
