Max Mara celebrated Yara Shahidi as the 2023 WIF Max Mara Face of the Future Award® recipient with an exclusive cocktail event held at the Chateau Marmont on Wednesday (November 29).
The actress is the 18th recipient of the award in recognition of her extraordinary acting achievement and embodiment of timeless style and grace.
Short suits appear to be the modernised take on tailoring, which the lady of the hour Yara Shahidi styled with Cartier jewels.
This isn’t an easy look to pull off without looking like you’re trying too hard, but you can always trust Yara to nail it, as she did with this Max Mara look.
Kate Hudson, who wore Max Mara, and Jurnee Smollett, who wore Sportmax, might not be wearing the same suit, but they had the same idea.
If you’re like me you’ll never be able to warm to Kate in dark colours, but that isn’t the reason why I prefer Jurnee’s look.
Jurnee’s tailoring is a lot sharper, the oversized, boxy, fit of the oversized jacket is more flattering, plus I prefer the fabric, and the styling.
I love the simple, classic nature of Zoey Deutch’s MaxMara look.
There is something about going back to basics that feels so refreshing, even if I’m not crazy about the clutch.
The same can be said about Lucy Hale’s MaxMara look. In this case the gold accessories ensured that she didn’t fade into the background.
Admittedly, Kate Beckinsale has had some ridiculous looks in 2023, but as you know I have a soft spot for her.
However, this wasn’t the event to pull the “look at me” card where someone else was being honoured. So I found this very classless.
Without the boots and the bow accented headband, this look could have been saved.
Skai Jackson kept the pant trend alive wearing a Sportmax romper which made her legs look endlessly long.
It’s a little too big, but she’s rocking it regardless.
Bella Heathcote dared to stand out, not only in pink MaxMara, but by pairing an embellished bandeau with a suit which resembles pyjamas.
It looks like this trend is slowly making it way back on the red carpet.
We’ve seen this recently on Greta Gerwig, Margot Robbie and now Bella.
