It’s a day ending in “y,” which means Kate Middleton is out and about in a sleek pantsuit, this time channeling her late mother-in-law in Princess Diana blue.
On December 5, Princess Kate attended the opening of a new surgery unit at Evelina London Children’s Hospital in a monochromatic ‘fit. Everything from her t-shirt to her belt to her shoes to her iconic sapphire jewelry precisely matched the rich French blue of her fitted suit, which is similar in style to many of the princess’s other favorite sets.
I can’t help but notice that this blue suit is similar to one of Diana’s iconic blue blazer looks, which was replicated in The Crown. If Kate was intentionally evoking Princess Diana with this ensemble, it would hardly be the first time she’s imitated one of Lady Di’s navy ensembles. In 2021, for instance, Kate wore an updated rendition of one of Diana’s blue skirt suits, swapping the 1992 pencil skirt for a pleated version. Kate is also known to repurpose much of her mother-in-law’s favorite pieces of sapphire jewelry, including the earrings she wears here.
