On Tuesday (November 28) in Paris, the ‘Iris van Herpen: Sculpting the Senses’ exhibition received two special guests for the preview; Queen Maxima of the Netherlands and the French First Lady Brigitte Macron.
Held at the Musée des Arts décoratifs, from 29 November 2023 to 28 April 2024, the exhibition pays tribute to Iris van Herpen, who is regarded as one of the most forward-thinking fashion designers.
Iris van Herpen is a pioneer in the use of new technologies that transgresses conventional clothing norms, while embracing both traditional Couture craftsmanship and innovative techniques.
We have seen her collections worn by celebrities on the red carpet, with my personal favourite being Gwendoline Christie for the ‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 8 New York premiere.
It still gives me goosebumps for years on.
Iris van Herpen was wearing one of her designs from the Fall 2023 Haute Couture collection.
But all eyes would have been on Queen Maxima of the Netherlands who blew me away wearing an Iris van Herpen Spring 2021 Haute Couture gown.
Even though we’ve seen this gown on the red carpet before. I gasped.
Jhené Aiko wore this same gown to the ‘Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings’ LA premiere back in 2021.
But for me, this gown is even better the second time around. Mostly because of how unexpected this look is.
I never thought I would see the day when a royal would wear a look from Iris van Herpen.
But most importantly, it looks like it was custom made for Queen Maxima, as the colour is so complementary to her skin-tone.
This is heading straight to my BDOTY list.
It was a case of French elegance, meets French elegance as Brigitte Macron looked as chic as ever wearing Louis Vuitton.
