Another day, another avant garde beauty moment at Paris Couture Week. This time, however, the striking hairstyles are courtesy of Kylie Jenner. Yes, styles: There were more than one.
A little over a week after showing off 2014-inspired bright pink hair, Jenner was spotted en route to the Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture spring/summer 2024 show wearing her natural brunette color. She wore a loose updo pinned at the nape of her neck, and honestly, her overall glam was giving prom 2008-meets-the ’90s-inspired Pamela Anderson updo, “face-framing” curling-ironed tendrils and all.
In fact, I nearly joked that Jenner’s whole look is remarkably similar to what I wore to prom—until I saw photos of her attending the actual show. Because the updo was no longer!
In an especially interesting move for the Kylie Cosmetics founder, Jenner showed off not a costume change, which would be expected for the reality star, but a hairstyle change upon actually sitting down for the show.
As documented via Getty Images, Jenner swapped the carefully crafted coiffure for peak lazy hot girl hair: messy bedhead waves that look so laid back it honestly makes it seem like she got sick of her hair at some point while finding her seat, said “screw it,” and took it all down. (Also occasionally known as “composer hair.”)
Knowing the Jenner-Kardashian clan, there’s no way Jenner—or more importantly, her glam squad—would be so blasé about something like beauty at Paris Couture Week. Right?
It seems so, since Jenner went on to pose for even more photos (one of which was with original Gossip Girl star Kelly Rutherford!), plus plenty of pictures leaving the event.
In conclusion, this doesn’t seem like a mistake: Kylie Jenner is always intentional. This hairstyle swap was simply in the name of fashion.
